After an amazing afternoon in rice terraces I continued my journey to Bali’s one of the holiest and most underrated temples – Pura Luhur Batukau, which is situated on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, Bali’s second-highest volcano. I am not a spiritual person but I was enchanted by the atmosphere. The temple is surrounded by forest, the atmosphere is cool and misty, and the chants of priests are backed by singing birds. It was the quietest and the most peaceful place I’ve visited in Bali – there were no other people which definitely made this place even more special. Surrounded by lush rain forest and away from the roasting heat of the coast Pura Batukau was the most magnificent place I’ve visited in Bali.
