5 Style Hacks How To Wear A Jumpsuit For A Formal Occasion

Usually when it comes to a formal occasion or a party I reach for a dress. But how many times you can go for the same look?! So I decided to ditch my favourite dresses and replace them with a jumpsuit.

I have to admit I didn’t wear jumpsuits very often before as they can be a little intimidating to wear and if not worn correctly can make you look sloppy, shorter and wider than you are so I used to stay away from them. Until I saw this one… It was a love from the first sight and I can easily say I found the perfect jumpsuit for the times when you need to dress up.

If you are following my Instagram account, you have probably seen that last month I spent some time in Italian countryside where I was attending my friend’s wedding. I was wearing this look to one of the pre-wedding celebrations. It was a balance between looking festive and dressed up and feeling comfortable which was particularly important as we were celebrating in a gorgeous country house in Umbria.

I know that I am not the only one who is a bit intimidated by the jumpsuit trend so I decided to share my 5 style tips on wearing a jumpsuit and making it appropriate for formal occasions.

5 Style Tips How To Wear A Jumpsuit

Fit is always the most important thing when you are choosing a piece of clothing and jumpsuits are not an exception. The key rule to remember if you want to look polished – don’t wear anything too tight or too loose!

Too tight jumpsuit will make you look like a catwomen and too loose jumpsuit will hide your figure and overwhelm your body and you will end up looking very sloppy. Draped jumpsuits are always the most flattering. They make you look taller and more elegant.

The cut is one of the reasons I fell in love with the jumpsuit I am wearing. It drapes around the body perfectly.

Cinching your jumpsuit at the waist is a great way to add some femininity to the look and give you that curvy look and appear more put together and polished.

The jumpsuit I am wearing already came with a belt but you can always add a different material and colour belt to define the waist even more.

Heels are must when wearing a jumpsuit. They will elongate the silhouette and ensure that you won’t end up looking short and wide. Also heels transform any look from casual to more formal, so it’s a great way to make your look more party appropriate.

Wedges can be also a great choice. I wore my favourite Sophia Webster’s wedges as the party I was attending was set in Umbrian countryside. It was a very wise decision as it made walking in a sunflower field much easier.

This is the easiest way to make your look more formal and party appropriate. Go for statement jewellery and a clutch bag and you will have a fabulous outfit for a wedding, birthday or any other party.

Solid colours will always look more formal, elegant and much more flattering than prints. Black is of course the easiest option and many chooses to wear it because of it’s slimming effect. But I would like to encourage to choose more vibrant colours, they definitely make your look more stylish, trendier and it won’t leave you unnoticed.

  1. That jumpsuit is just beautiful! Such a lovely colour. I’m always afraid to wear jumpsuits and I have no idea why, maybe because I don’t know how but this post has really helped! Solid colours and heels would be a definite for me.
